Job Description Overview
The Environmental Manager will serve as the Contractor's full-time, dedicated authority for all environmental matters on the Project. The role ensures full compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP-C), Employer's Requirements, and applicable environmental laws. The Environmental Manager will act as the Employer's primary point of accountability for environmental compliance, ensuring that all construction activities are performed in a responsible, sustainable, and legally compliant manner.
Your role
- Full implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of environmental compliance with the CEMP-C and all associated environmental procedures.
- Reporting directly to the Contractor's Project Manager and acting independently to ensure compliance with Employer's requirements.
- Authority to issue stop-work orders to Contractor and Subcontractor staff to prevent environmentally harmful or non-compliant activities.
- Maintaining full-time presence on Site and managing a team of environmental technicians, auditors, inspectors, or similar.
- Ensuring all Subcontractors appoint trained environmental staff responsible for implementing relevant CEMP-C elements.
- Establishing the environmental organizational structure, communication lines, and reporting mechanisms.
- Liaising closely with the Employer on all environmental matters, providing timely reports, and ensuring prevention and mitigation of environmental risks.
About you
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years specifically as an Environmental Project/Program Manager on large, complex infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Strong command of the English language is mandatory.
- Proven experience in environmental auditing, monitoring, planning, and sustainable construction practices.
- Demonstrated experience in the Gulf Region and preferably additional international experience.
- Qualification as an Environmental Auditor is a significant advantage.
- Subcontractors' Environmental Managers must also be suitably qualified and experienced in environmental site management.
