Overview:

SOS International LLC is seeking an Environmental Manager for a $50 million/year operation and maintenance (O&M) and life support services (LSS) contract in the Middle East.
The Environmental Manager is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability across all aspects of the O&M and LSS contract. This includes overseeing environmental protection programs, waste management, water and air quality monitoring, hazardous materials handling, and regulatory reporting. The Environmental Manager will work closely with site leadership, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure operations meet or exceed environmental standards and meet contractual obligations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 and any applicable international standards.

Ensure compliance with host nation environmental regulations, U.S. Government standards (if applicable), and international best practices.

Develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies, policies and programs that promote sustainable development and examine the contract activities to establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments and site evaluations across all three locations.
- Design and implement environmental protection programs including waste management, spill prevention, stormwater management, and pollution control.

Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability in operations.

Oversee environmental monitoring programs (e.g., air, water, soil quality).

Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports for internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies.

Track and report on environmental performance metrics and trends.

Develop and deliver environmental training for staff and subcontractors.

Promote environmental awareness and best practices across all levels of the organization.

Lead environmental incident investigations and root cause analyses.

Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence.

Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental matters with clients, regulators, and internal teams.

Participate in audits, inspections, and client reviews related to environmental compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, OR a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience managing environmental programs on large O&M and/or LSS contracts.

Experience working in the Middle East or in austere environments is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, hazardous materials handling, and environmental permitting.

Familiarity with U.S. Government environmental compliance standards (e.g., DoD, DoS) is a plus.

Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in environmental engineering preferred.

Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent travel between program operating locations.

Must be able to work in austere environments and adapt to cultural and operational nuances.
