Job Summary
The Environmental Services Director is responsible for the leadership, management, and oversight of all environmental services operations within the organization. This role ensures the facility maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and infection prevention. The Director oversees housekeeping, laundry, and environmental operations; develops and implements policies; ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation regulations; and fosters a culture of excellence. The Director collaborates with departmental leaders to support resident, patient, and staff satisfaction while ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
Duties
- · Provide leadership and supervision to Environmental Services (EVS) staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. This includes for maintenance workers, housekeepers and laundry employees.
- Prep timecards for payroll and create schedules every two weeks and check for changes on a daily basis. Keep track of employees attendance on an attendance tracker.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all assigned areas of the facility are maintained at high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, including common areas, clinical areas, offices, and specialty spaces.
- Oversee laundry operations and ensure proper handling, processing, and distribution of linens according to infection prevention standards.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify safety hazards, cleanliness concerns, or maintenance needs.
- Work closely with infection control personnel to implement best practices and monitor emerging infection risks.
- Manage department budgets, inventory, purchasing, and equipment maintenance. Code all invoices for payment and give to the BOM in the Business Office.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Nursing, Dining Services, and Administration to support smooth facility operations.
- Lead departmental training in safety, chemical handling, equipment use, and emergency procedures.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with OSHA, CMS, CDC, and state regulatory standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of cleaning schedules, inspections, incidents, and regulatory reporting.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to organizational planning and improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of customer service excellence and ensure positive interactions between EVS staff and residents, patients, and visitors.
- Assist with room changes if needed.
- Demonstrate a commitment to facility accident prevention and awareness of safety standards for the facility.
- Correct any safety hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Facility Administrator.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, inclulding OSHA, CMS, CDC, and state health regulations related to healthcare cleaning and safety standards.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping management, or facility support services, preferably in healthcare or senior living.
- Proven expertise in cleaning techniques, sanitation procedures, and floor care management.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and supervise diverse teams effectively.
- Experience with infection prevention practices, chemical safety, and cleaning protocols.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, inventory, equipment, and workflow planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management or EVS software systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in inspections and compliance documentation.
- A current Minnesota Boiler’s License is required or is able to be obtained and must be maintained every 2 years. This is tracked in QAPI to ensure licensure is kept up to date. Join us at St. Mark's Living as we uphold our commitment to creating a safe, clean environment where residents thrive!
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
