This role is to develop and drive internal projects focused on Sustainability, carbon emission reduction and circular economy practices into our products, facilities, and communications for Zebra’s engineering organization.


This role requires a dynamic and proactive individual to work closely with engineering and business partners to advance Zebra’s sustainability efforts. Collaborate with all of the engineering disciplines, the Sustainability Council (Green Products Council) and other business partners on a wide range of initiatives that further instill Zebra’s values in how we work and the legacy we leave for our employees, our communities, and our environment. This individual will develop and manage the day-to-day efforts from initial concept to deployment as well provide awareness to the greater organization of new policies and
best practices with regard to Environmental Sustainability.


This role is a mininum of 3-days per week in our Holtsville, NY (Long Island) office, 2 days remote (US).


Responsibilities:

  • Architects, designs, and supports and testing of sustainable solutions to several highly- complex technical projects by advising product teams on material selection, energy efficiency improvements, battery longevity, repairability, and other specific sustainability topics.
  • Recommends project sustainability approach/specifications for the projects and goals.
  • With other engineering disciplines, develops next generation sustainability ideas and solutions to meet client needs before the competition.
  • Coaches others on how to effectively develop, communicate, and implement new sustainability solutions.
  • Leads the management and implementation of Zebra’s Ecolabel program, including EPEAT 2.0 and Energy Star certifications.
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on specialized sustainability projects or programs.
  • Acts as prime consultant on large projects that affect the organization’s long-term goals and objectives.
  • Keeps abreast of new sustainability regulations and initiatives and prepare Zebra for compliance with them.
  • Prioritizes quality and seeks out improvements in all aspects of the sustainability projects.
  • Maintains keen awareness of competitor products and development direction to help direct designs to surpass the competition.
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
  • May supervise the activities of others.

Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Environmental Engineering or related technical degree plus a minimum of 12 years Engineering/Program Management experience in Product Sustainability or Carbon Emissions reduction
  • MS in Environmental Engineering or related technical degree plus 8 years Engineering/Program Management experience in Product Sustainability or Carbon Emissions reduction
  • PhD in Environmental Engineering or related technical degree plus a minimum of 5 years of work experience in Product Sustainability or Carbon Emissions reduction

Salary:
USD 136100.00 - USD 204100.00 Yearly


Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
