POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work within the DuPage County Stormwater Management Department as an Environmental Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:


  • Enforces compliance through review of engineering plans and inspection of sites
  • Oversees ordinance compliance
  • Performs investigation of water quality, elevation, grading, obstruction of waterways and soil and sediment controls
  • Inspects drainage complaints and develops initial work up
  • Monitors the construction of drainage projects
  • Prepares drainage project's justification for committee and/or Board approval
  • Assists developers and property owners
  • Prepares, maintains and distributes records and reports pertinent to reviews and inspections
  • Serves as a consultant for proper compliance
  • Prepares preliminary and working drawings to scale using drafting techniques
  • Prepares and updates drawings
  • Interacts with the public, and conducts field inspection

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in design and construction or in an environmental or sub professional engineering field
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver’s license
The preferred candidate will possess the following:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Knowledge and experience of permit review process and procedures
  • Ability to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including the DuPage County Stormwater Ordinance and building code
  • Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including consultants and contractors
