Position: Cardio Device RN
Location: Cardiology Clinic, Winston-Salem NC
Employment Type: Full Time 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm

Your Role

As the Cardiac Device RN you will:

The Cardiac Device Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized clinical support for patients with implantable cardiac devices, including implantable cardiac monitors (ICMs), pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices. This role focuses on patient education, device interrogation and monitoring, coordination of care, and collaboration with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes and device performance.

  • Provide post-implant education to patients and caregivers regarding cardiac devices, long term management, and remote monitoring.
  • Perform in-office and remote device interrogations for ICMs, pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices
  • Review device data, including arrhythmia episodes, lead integrity, battery status, and alerts
  • Identify and escalate abnormal findings, device malfunctions, or clinical concerns to the electrophysiology team
  • Supports the programming and reprogramming of cardiac devices based on physicians’ orders and patient needs
  • Assist in the coordination of device implants, generator changes, follow-up visits, and remote monitoring enrollment as needed
  • Document device findings and patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Respond to patient inquiries related to symptoms, device function, and remote monitoring transmissions
  • Collaborate with physicians, device technicians, and industry representatives while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuing education related to cardiac devices


What We’re Looking For

Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required.
Experience: Cardiology, Electrophysiology, ICU, or Telemetry experience, Required.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. Refer to Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096.

Additional Skills/Requirements (required)
:
Strong understanding of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmia recognition.
Excellent patient education, communication, and documentation skills.
Proficiency with EHR systems and remote monitoring platforms.

Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred)
:
Leadership development.
Experience with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs).
Familiarity with device manufacturers (e.g., Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific, Biotronik).
Knowledge of electrophysiology procedures and device clinic workflows.
CCDS (Certified Cardiac Device Specialist) or willingness to obtain certification.
Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
