JOB SUMMARY
The EPIC Analyst at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for serving as the EPIC Enterprise and clinical system specialist and overall administrator of system functionality including creation of templates and order sets, provision of recommendations on system and functionality improvements, planning for new module implementation, leading related project management, and supporting system configuration and issue resolution. This role collaborates with the appropriate Clinical Manager and Clinical Director to strategically plan clinical system development and coordinates team members and trainers in identifying and addressing system and user needs to achieve optimal system effectiveness and use.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Serves as the highest level Epic application specialist and primary system administrator, providing expert level support across Epic applications and clinical operations.
- Designs, builds, maintains, and governs Epic templates, order sets, provider preferences, and system configurations across all Epic clinical modules and other assigned applications.
- Maintains expert knowledge of Epic application integration and understands downstream impacts to clinical workflows, operational processes, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitors Epic release updates and functionality enhancements, proactively testing system upgrades and leveraging resources to continuously advance system knowledge and optimize application performance.
- Leads testing efforts for new Epic releases and system enhancements, applying advanced expertise to ensure upgrades are stable, functional, and meet organizational needs.
- Tests all system changes in non production environments and collaborates with leadership and peers to promote controlled deployment to production using established change management and governance processes.
- Ensures system downtime procedures are current, communicated, and aligned with organizational emergency operations and patient safety standards.
- Collaborates with clinical leaders, IT teams, and external vendors to plan and execute installations, upgrades, interfaces, and system enhancements in alignment with clinical priorities.
- Supports planning and implementation of major Epic modules by assessing configuration requirements, defining workflows, coordinating resources, developing project plans, and assigning project tasks.
- Provides leadership through training, mentoring, and supporting new Epic analysts, promoting best practices and consistent configuration standards.
- Delivers system configuration, project development, workflow design, optimization initiatives, change management support, and complex issue resolution related to clinical applications.
- Participates in and leads meetings related to system operations, project planning, issue resolution, change coordination, and stakeholder communications.
- Achieves and maintains required Epic certification(s) and maintains working knowledge of related Epic applications to support cross functional initiatives.
- Completes assigned project tasks within defined timelines and according to priorities established by management and application leadership.
- Acts as a champion for assigned projects, providing ongoing support for implementations, optimizations, enhancements, and system upgrades.
Provides on call support for clinical applications, supporting a 24/7 operational environment and ensuring timely resolution of critical system issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Associate's Degree Computer Science, Math, Analytics, Informatics, or Management Information Systems. Required

Work Experience
- 1-3 years. A minimum of at least 2 years prior experience with both technical support and design of the electronic health record and other clinical systems. Required

- Defines, designs and implements business processes, workflow, reports and queries necessary for proper operations of all Business Operations Systems
- Must have extensive contact with: Business Operations Staff, Management, vendors, consultants, other NMHS/NMMC Staff members
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must reflect a positive, caring attitude toward patients, staff and the public we serve
- Must project a good image of Management Information Services
