Responsibilities:
- The Epilepsy Monitor Technician professional responsibility within their scope of practice:

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.

Adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality.

Assists with orientation of new employees as assigned.

The Epilepsy Monitor Technician patient care/department responsibilities:
-
Provides visual and auditory observation of remote epilepsy monitoring equipment for patients located in the nursing unit or intensive care unit
-
Recognizes and interprets basic EEG rhythms.
-
Recognizes emergency situations and responds according to protocol.
-
Maintains alarms at all times.
-
Maintains equipment and verifies proper working order.
-
Sits for long periods of time observing monitors.
-
Requires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functions.

Utilizes proper body mechanics when:
-
Enters requests on computer for unit maintenance and repair.
-
Participates in orientation of new personnel.
-
Utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System.
-
Performs related duties as required.

The Epilepsy Monitor Technician communication responsibilities:
-
Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone.

Responds to overhead and digital pages.
-
Verbally reports any variation of patient's normal rhythm to appropriate nurse promptly via person/telephone/microphone.

Maintains accurate and complete documentation:

The Epilepsy Monitor Technician citizenship responsibilities:

Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict.

Cooperates, helps others and improves the perfonnance of the unit.

Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements.

Utilizes cost effective practices in perfonning all aspects of the job.

Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.

Assists team members to complete tasks at hand.

The responsibilities for providing age specific care:

Demonstrates the ability to provide competent patient care to the following patient populations:

Participates on committees as assigned.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement or participation of ICARE process as assigned.

Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements

Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards

Regular and prompt attendance

Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required

Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
