Equine Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Equine Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Trinity Equine. If you are an experienced horse person with a desire to join a family-owned company focused on providing the gold standard in equine veterinary care, then we are the company you are looking for. We are seeking motivated, professional and caring assistants and technicians to grow our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the care and welfare of animals, and the desire and ability to work in a fast-paced veterinary clinic environment.

Trinity Equine is comprised of two clinics here in the Redding Area. Panorama Equine Medical and Surgical Center in Redding, and Crossroads Veterinary Clinic in Anderson. As a veterinary assistant with us you will be working closely with our veterinarians and support team. The duties and responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to the following:

· Assist the veterinarians in examinations and procedures

· Horse handling and restraint

· “Moving” and lunging a horse

· Administration of medications directed by the veterinarian

· Preparing and maintaining all medical equipment

· Monitoring and recording the status of hospitalized patients

· Maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital including exam rooms and adjacent areas, as well as the barn, stalls and exterior areas of the clinic

· As an emergency hospital you may be scheduled for “On Call” shifts

The ideal candidate will need to possess a combination of the following skills to be considered for this position:

· Equine experience is a requirement

· You will need to have strong horse handling skills

· Proficient in restraint, trotting and lunging techniques for gait analysis

· Administration of oral medications

· Familiarity with horse anatomy and medical terminology

· Previous veterinary clinic experience is a benefit

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
