Job Description
The Public Service Commission of Utah is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to serve as a Telecommunications Equipment Distributor and Outreach Coordinator for the Relay Utah program. Relay Utah is a program that provides specialized telephone equipment, Traditional Relay Services (TRS), outreach, and education for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, and speech impaired, ensuring equal access to basic telephone service.
This position plays a key role in outreach and community engagement, raising awareness of program services and eligibility among underserved and eligible populations throughout Utah.
This is a part-time position without benefits and requires use of the employee’s personal vehicle.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Telecommunications Equipment Distribution
- Distribute, troubleshoot, and repair specialized telecommunications equipment for eligible consumers
- Provide one-on-one and group training to qualified individuals and consumer groups on the use of specialized telephone equipment
- Ensure equipment is installed and functioning properly and that consumers understand how to use available services
Outreach & Community Engagement
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase awareness of the Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program among eligible populations
- Collaborate with local organizations, service providers, advocacy groups, and community partners to promote program services
- Conduct informational presentations, workshops, and trainings for community groups and stakeholders
- Attend outreach events, including health fairs, and community meetings as a representative of the Commission
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding program eligibility, services, and telecommunications accessibility
Program Improvement & Feedback
- Gather feedback from consumers and community partners to assess outreach effectiveness
- Identify gaps in outreach and recommend improvements to better meet the needs of the populations served
- Support ongoing efforts to ensure outreach activities are inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive

- Access to a reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel locally
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Community engagement or outreach experience, particularly serving individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, and speech impaired
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse community groups and stakeholders
- Experience conducting trainings, workshops, or informational presentations
- Cultural competence and understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment, assistive technology, or accessibility
