Equipment Operator

Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Natural Resources Maintenance Division located at 3515 NE 33rd Terr.
Starting Salary: $20.10/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

• Performs safe and efficient operation of light and heavy construction equipment.
• Operates front loaders, tractors, brush hog, stump grinder, deforester, swing-arm mowers, skid-steers, zero-turn mowers, backhoe, snowplow, pulverizer, and related equipment.
• Operates equipment as a regular assignment and operates such equipment properly so as not to injure self, other employees or the public or damage property and equipment.
• Provides support for employees of lesser skills in the accomplishment of their tasks.
• Provides training for lesser skilled employees occasionally.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
  

REQUIRES 6 months of experience in the operation of trucks and other specialized automotive equipment. Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid Missouri Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of probationary period. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Department requires candidate to obtain Class A CDL by the end of 6-month probationary period.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
