Equipment Operator

Job Title: Equipment Operator

Pay: $20 - $25

Reports To: Scheduling Manager

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Summary:

The Equipment Operator position will operate machinery to help complete constructions projects. They must be able to do so safely and while ensuring quality product output.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dig and install utility lines and storm water management systems;
  • Excavating and install Bio ponds and retention ponds;
  • Basement excavations;
  • Grading work with skid steer and dozier;
  • Level out lots and install building pads;
  • Communicate need for maintenance or repair and complete necessary maintenance logs or reports
  • Operate under OSHA standards and Company safety guidelines;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory:

This position does not oversee staff.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years old;

At least 1 year of operator experience, construction or excavation experience or education

  • Ability to communicate clearly with field personnel and homeowners/builder;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Able to occasionally perform strenuous tasks on site;
  • Good verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to control heavy equipment;
  • Coordination to use all the controls on pieces of equipment;
  • Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other necessary paperwork;
  • Must be reliable and possess good work ethic.
  • Possessing a valid Driver’s License (clean MVR) and ability to operate a variety of machines are highly preferable.

Work Environment:

The work is typically performed outside in a construction setting with standard operating hours being from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm. The noise level is moderate to loud. Working conditions include exposure to dust, debris, and various types of machinery. Environmental conditions may include exposure to sharp objects, slippery surfaces, crowded areas, or working near moving or heated parts.

  • Prolonged periods standing and sitting, dependent on equipment requirements;
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times;
  • Must possess the strength necessary to operate various pieces of equipment;
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods.
