About Us

Joe Krentzman & Son, Inc. is a multi-location scrap metal processing company based in Central Pennsylvania. We’re expanding our services to include on-site scrap processing and demolition across the U.S., with a focus on railcar dismantling and industrial metal recycling.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator / Traveling Scrap Processing Supervisor.
This position combines equipment operation in our local yards with occasional travel to customer sites across the country to lead field scrap processing jobs.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (especially excavators) for scrap handling and processing
• Operate or learn to operate mobile shear attachments
• Supervise torch cutting crews and coordinate daily site operations
• Manage fuel and cutting gas usage, consumables, and site safety
• Communicate with home office regarding project progress and logistics
• Load railcars and trucks with prepared scrap
• Assist in yard operations when not traveling

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators or similar heavy equipment required
• Experience with mobile shears preferred (training available)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel several times per year for short-term projects (typically 1–2 weeks)
• Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus)
• Safety-first mindset
