Description / Position Overview

Equipment Operator II - Pikes Peak - America's Mountain

About this Job: As an Equipment Operator II, you will assist with semi-skilled maintenance tasks on Pikes Peak America's Mountain in accordance with your supervisor.

Job Type: Full time

Work Schedule: Typical work schedule for this role is 7:00am - 3:30pm either Sunday through Thursday - OR - Tuesday through Saturday. This role may include occasional overtime and work on holidays as operations require.


As an Equipment Operator II, you will:

  • Primary responsibility of safely operating skid loaders, backhoe loaders, front-end loaders, motor graders and other light and heavy equipment
  • Inspecting equipment, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, and scheduling repairs with PPAM fleet technicians
  • Performing pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documenting checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)
  • Operating heavy equipment for major construction projects
  • Participating in maintaining a safe and secure work environment for employees and guests by adhering to risk management and safety policies and guidelines
  • Reporting all safety issues or concerns to the appropriate Supervisor
  • Operate tools and equipment under the guidance of senior equipment operators
  • Safely use, clean, service, and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and tools.
  • Transport material and equipment to and from maintenance and construction sites
  • Perform grounds maintenance and clean up
  • Install and repair Pikes Peak Highway signage as directed
  • Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, removing debris, shoveling snow, and cleaning storm water infrastructure
  • Maintain log and record books including data entry of maintenance and project progress in Cartegraph software
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and vision of PPAM
  • Other duties as assigned

We are looking for candidates who will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Operate a wide variety of vehicles and equipment safely on the mountain
  • Operate/ use power tools, hand tools and precision tools safely
  • Work with hands, tie knots, repetitive motion etc.
  • Physical work, stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive motions
  • Follow directions and implement tasks with little to no supervision
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Operate two-way radios

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in related field
  • Possess upon hire a valid non-probationary Class A or B CDL not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
