Equipment Specialist - FEC

Support First Equipment Company (FEC) operations including equipment inventory, logistics, and maintenance processes. Support construction field operations; help to ensure tools, fleet vehicles, and equipment are available, safe, and functional. Maintain accurate records, conduct data entry, and assist with equipment movement and basic inspections.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Support First Equipment Company (FEC) equipment operations, including daily activities for receiving, staging, organizing, and tracking of tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery of equipment to and from project sites; provide support for preparation, loading, and unloading activities.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections and minor maintenance tasks to support functionality and safety.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct timely data entry of information within equipment tracking systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms.
  • Support equipment scheduling and document routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
  • Respond to equipment requests; support timely delivery and proper documentation from project and site teams.
  • Assist with equipment check-in/out processes, track usage, and identify damaged or missing items.
  • Follow company policies, safety protocols related to equipment handling, operational standards, and wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in FEC storage yards, shops, and tool rooms.
  • Participate in process improvement efforts to help streamline logistics, improve efficiency, and reduce equipment downtime.
  • Lift and move heavy items, work outdoors or in warehouse setting, and travel to job sites as needed.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited program, High School Diploma or GED required, and minimum of 2 years of experience or coursework in construction, logistics, equipment operations, warehouse management, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Basic understanding of construction equipment, jobsite logistics, and equipment maintenance requirements for hand and power tools
  • Familiar with and committed to follow safety practices related to material handling and equipment operations
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (certification required or willingness to attain)
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and ability follow procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Active listening skills and responsive with strong follow-up practices
  • Process skills to think through logistics and communicate expectations
  • Ability to professionally engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and willing to work in a fast-paced and hands-on environment
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous learning
  • Familiar with continuous improvement concepts, methodologies, and tools
  • Embrace change and quick learner to adopt processes, information, and technology enhancements
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications, Excel skills, and database applications, inventory systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, a plus
  • Travel required

The employee is regularly required to be mobile, and the employee regularly travels both short and long distances via a variety of conveyances. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at warehouse or construction work sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
