Job Responsibilities
- Perform initial assessment of patients arriving at Emergency as per hospital triage protocol.
- Assist the doctor in providing emergency care including airway management, oxygen administration, IV line insertion support, wound care, and splinting.
- Prepare and keep emergency trolleys, crash carts, and equipment (defibrillator, monitor, suction machine, BVM, glucometer, etc.) in ready-to-use condition at all times.
- Support in performing basic clinical procedures such as ECG, glucometer testing, nebulisation, assisting in suturing, catheterization setup, etc.
- Assist in shifting critical patients to ICU, OT, Cath Lab, Ambulance, or other departments ensuring safety and continuity of care.
- Ensure immediate availability of emergency drugs, consumables, and maintain proper stock levels in coordination with the nursing/ED incharge.
- Provide first-aid support during internal hospital emergencies, Code Blue, and disaster response situations.
- Follow infection control practices including waste segregation, linen handling, equipment disinfection, and hand hygiene.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including vital signs charting, procedure notes, equipment checklists, crash cart logs, and triage sheets.
- Ensure proper functioning and daily checks of ER equipment; report malfunction immediately.
- Assist in patient resuscitation as directed by ER doctor or nurse—CPR, airway positioning, emergency equipment preparation.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
- Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments for fast patient management.
- Adhere to hospital policies, NABH standards, safety protocols, and emergency response guidelines.
- Provide compassionate communication to patients and attenders during emergencies.
