Responsibilities/Duties
Maintenance Activities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks for escalators and elevators to ensure peak
performance and safety.
- Lubricate, adjust and replace components as necessary to reduce wear and prolong equipment lifespan.
- Collaborate with escalator/elevator service providers to implement corrective and preventive maintenance tasks
and minor modifications at Cairo Metro Line 3 stations.
- Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good working condition and ready for use.
- Replace worn-out or damaged components during regular maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Supervise subcontractors to ensure that they are following the Planned Maintenance (PM) schedule and meet
quality standards.
Troubleshooting and Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in escalators and elevators.
- Perform repairs and replace defective parts to restore equipment to operational standards.
- Assist in rehabilitating aging assets to extend their operational life and improve safety.
- Conduct installations, inspections, tests, and maintenance as necessary to ensure functionality.
Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to escalator and elevator malfunctions and outages.
- Assist in the safe evacuation of passengers during emergencies, such as elevator entrapments.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with internal operations and maintenance teams to facilitate the completion of maintenance
activities.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and external service providers to ensure specialized maintenance tasks are
carried out efficiently.
- Provide leadership and guidance to subcontractors to ensure that the PM plan is followed without failure.
Inspection and Testing
- Conduct routine inspections to identify any potential issues or safety hazards with escalators and elevators.
- Test operational systems and emergency features to verify functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
- Supervise subcontractors to ensure adherence to the PM schedule and safety standards.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities conducted.
- Ensure that all maintenance logs are up-to-date and accurately reflect completed tasks.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on equipment conditions, highlighting recommendations for maintenance,
upgrades, or replacements.
Field Survey and Assessments
- Assist with field surveys and data collection for engineering studies or project planning purposes.
- Provide input on the condition of existing infrastructure to support new project initiatives and improvements.
Safety
- Ensure adherence to all relevant safety protocols and regulations when conducting maintenance tasks.
- Implement safety measures to ensure that all escalators and elevators are safe for public use.
- Mitigate risks during maintenance activities, ensuring the safety of workers and passengers.
Maximo
- Utilize the Maximo system to document maintenance activities, track repairs, and manage the equipment
lifecycle.
- Input detailed records and work orders in Maximo to monitor ongoing maintenance activities.
- Generate reports and dashboards through Maximo to track performance metrics and maintenance KPIs.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure that Maximo is updated with accurate and timely information
regarding equipment status.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; mechanical certification or relevant technical qualification preferred.
- Arabic fluency is a must; proficiency in English (speaking and reading) is a plus.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy components.
- Good eyesight with normal color vision is required.
Knowledge:
- General technical knowledge related to escalator and elevator systems.
- Strong understanding of maintenance processes and safety guidelines.
- Knowledge of railway systems is an asset (optional).
- Advanced knowledge of elevator systems, mechanical walkways, and escalators.
- Familiarity with general maintenance processes and techniques.
- Knowledge of common maintenance tools and devices.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, such as Maximo.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience working as a maintenance technician for escalators and/or elevators.
- Experience in site supervision and project management.
- Experience within the railway or metro industry is an advantage.

- Strong understanding of safety and compliance regulations relevant to maintenance in transit systems.
- Skills in coordinating multiple tasks or projects, balancing priorities, and ensuring deadlines are met
