Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Active membership with The Florida Bar is required (LLM not necessary).
  • Proven experience in Estate Planning, Asset Protection, and Trust Administration, demonstrating strong proficiency, independence, and confidence in handling complex matters.
  • Strong ability to learn continuously and adapt quickly to new legal concepts in an evolving field.
  • Proficiency with legal drafting software (e.g., WealthDocs) and client management platforms such as Clio.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • This is an on-site role based in Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County, Florida. Remote work is not available due to frequent client interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex trust and estate planning matters to deliver effective client solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Probate Department on tax-related and advanced estate planning issues.
  • Apply knowledge of domestic estate tax and asset protection strategies.
  • Draft and review sophisticated estate and gift tax planning structures, including ILITs, SLATs, QPRTs, IDGTs, preferred partnership freezes, Family Limited Partnerships, and tax-free reorganizations.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of federal tax forms, including Form 706 (Estate and Generation-Skipping Taxes) and Form 709 (Gift Taxes), ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide clients with comprehensive advice regarding estate and trust documents, trustee duties, beneficiary rights, and tax implications of distributions.
  • Administer trusts for individuals and families, including oversight of investments, banking, real estate holdings, corporate/partnership interests, and tax compliance.
  • Prepare fiduciary accountings for Attorney-Trustees, including financial statements and beneficiary reporting.
  • Review and approve foundational estate plans before final delivery to clients.
  • Collaborate with CPAs, financial advisors, and insurance providers to obtain necessary documentation for accurate filings.
  • Counsel trustees on ongoing trust administration, powers and duties, distribution matters, and compliance.
  • Lead and manage a team within the Foundational Estate Planning Department, overseeing workflow and ensuring high-quality client service delivery.

Salary: $120,000 – $180,000 annually, based on experience plus origination incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
