We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Estimating Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for leading and continuously improving the quoting and estimating function while ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable pricing for customer opportunities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong estimating and pricing expertise, a deep understanding of manufacturing cost structures, and the ability to balance customer competitiveness with profitability. This role supports the Estimating Department and reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the quoting and estimating process for customer RFQs, proposals, and new business opportunities.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates by evaluating customer specifications, engineering drawings, bills of material, labor requirements, and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze pricing risks, margin opportunities, and cost drivers to support profitable business decisions.
  • Balance competitive pricing strategies with company profitability objectives.
  • Establish and maintain standardized quoting procedures, documentation requirements, and best practices.
  • Monitor quote turnaround times, quote quality, conversion rates, and overall department performance.
  • Utilize quoting & pricing data to identify trends, improve forecasting accuracy, & support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Finance to ensure alignment between customer requirements and operational capabilities.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the quoting function.
  • Support the development and mentoring of estimators and quoting specialists.
  • Prioritize opportunities based on strategic value, profitability, customer relationships, and business objectives.
  • Communicate pricing decisions, assumptions, and cost drivers clearly to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, revision control, and quote records.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating, quoting, pricing, or cost analysis within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing costs, labor standards, bills of material (BOMs), and production processes.
  • Experience developing accurate cost estimates and pricing models.
  • Understanding of gross margin, contribution margin, and profitability analysis.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to identify pricing risks, margin erosion, and cost drivers while supporting profitable growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership, supervisory, coaching, or team development experience.
  • Experience in electrical control panels, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, industrial automation, contract manufacturing, or engineer-to-order environments.
  • Experience building or improving estimating and quoting processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting high-growth manufacturing organizations.
  • Experience monitoring quote metrics, hit rates, turnaround times, and departmental performance.
  • Experience utilizing quoting data and analytics to identify pricing trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of market pricing and competitive positioning.
