Estimation and Procurement Engineer (Water/Wastewater)
Location: Bangalore/ Mysore
Salary Range: 30K to 40K per month
Job Summary:
The Estimation and Procurement Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and managing procurement activities for engineering and construction projects. This role plays a key part in budgeting, tendering, vendor negotiation, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, costing, and supply chain management.
Job Description:
Estimation:
- Analyse project drawings, specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Manage the pre-contract tender process including tender assessment and queries and issue the contract award recommendation report
- Collect and analyse data for labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQs), cost breakdowns, and price comparisons.
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams for technical clarifications and scope alignment.
- Provide detailed cost analysis and financial summaries for project managers and senior management.
- Participate in bid preparation, review, and submission for tenders and proposals.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and risks during the estimation phase. Procurement:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and subcontractors based on price, quality, reliability, and service.
- Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs), Purchase Orders (POs), and procurement contracts.
- Negotiate prices, delivery terms, and payment conditions with vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain up-to-date records of procurement activities, vendor databases, and material tracking.
- Work with the logistics and project team to ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- Min 3 years of experience in estimation and procurement roles within engineering and construction sectors.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimation software and ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, technical specifications, and BOQ preparation.
- Knowledge of procurement laws, sourcing strategies, and supply chain management.
- Advanced skills in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Soft Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Team player with the ability to coordinate across departments.
