Estimation Engineer

Role Purpose:

The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing competitive and accurate cost estimates, tender submissions, and pricing strategies for building and infrastructure projects. The role ensures compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Ashghal, Kahramaa, QCDD, and other relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Study tender documents including drawings, specifications, BOQ, conditions of contract, and addendums.
• Conduct site visits and collect project-related technical data for accurate estimation.
• Identify cost risk areas, missing information, and technical clarifications.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for civil, architectural, structural, and MEP works.
• Prepare cost breakdowns, material take-offs (MTOs), and labor, equipment, and overhead calculations.
• Develop direct and indirect cost estimates based on project requirements.
• Float inquiries, evaluate quotations, and negotiate technical/commercial offers.
• Prepare subcontractor/supplier comparison sheets and finalize competitive pricing.
• Maintain updated database of suppliers, subcontractors, and material prices.
• Prepare pricing strategies in alignment with management.
• Build detailed cost models and pricing sheets as per tender format.
• Ensure compliance with QCS, Ashghal, KAHRAMAA, QCDD, and municipality regulations.
• Prepare technical and commercial bid submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze project drawings to propose alternatives and cost-saving solutions.
• Provide input for buildability, material substitution, and resource optimization.
• Support management in final bid review and risk mitigation.
• Prepare clarifications, breakdowns, and supporting documents requested by the client/consultant.
• Assist in contract negotiation and handover documentation to the project team.
• Update estimation databases based on awarded rates and market feedback.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• 5–10 years’ experience in estimation within a Grade A Construction Company in Qatar (mandatory).
• Strong experience in building construction projects.
• Excellent understanding of Ashghal standards
• KAHRAMAA, QCDD, and Municipality requirements

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

• MRICS / RICS
• PMP Certification
• Ashghal Pre-Qualification Experience
• Training in Candy/CCS Estimation Software
