Job Title: Estimation Engineer

About the Role

The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, tender submissions, and commercial proposals for prefab buildings, modular cabins, containers, steel structures, site offices, accommodation units, warehouses, and related MEP & fit-out works. The role involves quantity take-off, supplier coordination, technical review of drawings/specifications, and preparation of competitive quotations while ensuring compliance with project requirements and company standards.

The Estimation Engineer shall coordinate with Design, Procurement, Production, Projects, and Finance departments to ensure timely submission of technically and commercially compliant offers.

Key Responsibilities

• Tender & Estimation
• Review tender drawings, specifications, BOQ, and contract documents to identify project scope, technical requirements, risks, and discrepancies.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for:
• Prefabricated buildings
• Modular cabins
• Portable cabins
• Site offices
• Accommodation units
• Toilets & pantry units
• Containers & container modifications
• Steel structures
• Interior fit-out works
• MEP works

Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination

• Send inquiries to suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and technical compliance.
• Analyze and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations technically and commercially.
• Negotiate with vendors for competitive pricing and delivery schedules.
• Maintain updated records of supplier pricing and approved vendor lists.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with Design, Production, Procurement, and Project teams during estimation and execution stages.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings when required.
• Take site measurements and verify actual site conditions before finalizing quotations.
• Assist project team with variation orders, additional works, and revised costing.
• Support commercial team in preparing payment applications and cost reports when required.

Cost Control & Documentation

• Monitor project costs against estimated budgets.
• Review site material requisitions and compare with approved BOQ quantities.
• Prepare variation quotations, maintenance quotations, and additional work costings.
• Maintain proper estimation records, cost databases, and tender documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and client requirements.
• Perform quantity take-off from drawings using AutoCAD and other estimation tools.
• Prepare BOQ and costing sheets including direct and indirect costs.
• Calculate material, labor, transportation, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
• Analyze project specifications and propose value engineering solutions where applicable.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals as per client requirements.
• Ensure timely submission of quotations and tender documents

Requirements

Education

• Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Additional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Estimation is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience as Estimation Engineer in:
• Prefabricated building industry
• Modular construction
• Steel structures
• Interior fit-out
• Portable cabin manufacturing
• Container conversion projects

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of estimation and quantity take-off.
• Experience in AutoCAD quantity take-off.
• Knowledge of prefab construction materials and methods.
• Good understanding of MEP and fit-out works.
• Proficiency in:
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Word
• AutoCAD
• ERP

• Knowledge of temporary facilities and site accommodation projects
• Familiarity with modular construction standards and authority requirements.
• Understanding of fabrication and production processes for prefab units.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
