The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects by analyzing tender documents, drawings, and specifications. The role ensures timely submission of techno-commercial proposals while supporting value engineering and coordination with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Estimation & Tendering
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects.
Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to determine the full scope of work. Identify risks, exclusions, and assumptions during bid preparation.
2. Quantity Take-offs & BOQ Preparation
Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for civil works (earthworks, concrete, masonry, finishing, etc.).
Prepare and validate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) aligned with project requirements. Coordinate with design and technical teams to resolve discrepancies in drawings.
3. Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for civil materials and works. Analyze quotations to ensure compliance with specifications and budget targets.
Maintain updated cost databases and vendor pricing records.
4. Bid Submission & Commercial Support
Prepare technical and commercial bid submissions within defined deadlines.
Compile tender documentation including costing sheets, clarifications, and schedules. Participate in post-tender negotiations and provide clarifications when required.
5. Value Engineering
Propose value engineering solutions to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
Recommend alternative materials, construction methods, and design improvements.
6. Project Handover & Support
Support project teams during handover by explaining estimation assumptions and cost breakdowns.
Provide ongoing cost support and clarification during project execution if required.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
3–8 years of estimation experience in civil construction projects.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, market rates, and civil construction methods.
Experience in tendering and BOQ preparation for residential, commercial, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
Skills Required Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and estimation software
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Good negotiation and vendor management skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Effective communication and coordination skills
