Estimator / Quantity Surveyor - UPDA/MMUP Certified

Doha, Qatar

The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the financial and scheduling elements of construction projects. This role involves cost estimation, budget management, contract administration, and project planning to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities: Quantity Surveying:

Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses.

Tendering and Contracts:

  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents.
  • Assist in the negotiation and administration of contracts.

Cost Control:

  • Monitor project costs and expenditures.
  • Identify and manage cost variations and claims.

Valuations and Payments:

  • Conduct interim valuations of work completed.
  • Certify payments and manage financial transactions with subcontractors and suppliers.

Reporting:

  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and project cost summaries.
  • Analyze cost data to provide insights and recommendations.

Planning Engineering:

Project Scheduling:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules as necessary.

Resource Planning:

  • Plan and allocate resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure the availability of resources to meet project timelines.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implement contingency plans to address potential delays.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate schedule updates, changes, and impacts to all relevant parties.

Progress Tracking:

  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare progress reports and performance metrics.

Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in quantity surveying and project planning within the construction industry.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in cost estimation software, project management tools, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex financial and scheduling data.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.

Attention to Detail:

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in both cost estimation and project scheduling.

Certification:

  • Professional certifications such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may involve working on-site at construction locations as well as in an office environment.
  • Some travel may be required depending on project locations.
