We are looking for an ETL & Healthcare Data Integration Engineer who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about solving real-world healthcare data challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support ETL pipelines for healthcare data ingestion, normalization, validation, and delivery.
• Work with healthcare interoperability standards, including:
• HL7 v2 (required), HL7 v3 (plus)
• FHIR (R4 preferred)
• CQM / eCQM and MIPS reporting workflows
• Build integrations between EMRs/EHRs, billing systems, HIEs, labs, and third-party partners using APIs, SFTP, flat files, and message queues.
• Parse, transform, map, and reconcile clinical and administrative data such as demographics, encounters, diagnoses, orders, lab results, and insurance data.
• Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, schemas, and stored logic to support analytics and integration workflows.
• Investigate and resolve real-world data issues (missing fields, duplicates, invalid values, inconsistent coding, broken messages) and implement long-term fixes.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to gather requirements and deliver reliable integration solutions.
• Contribute to R&D efforts by evaluating tools, improving architecture, and building proof-of-concept solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with ETL development and data transformation workflows.
• Solid understanding of healthcare interoperability standards:
• HL7 v2 (required)
• FHIR resources, bundles, and APIs
• CQM / MIPS concepts and reporting structures
• Strong experience with Python (required); familiarity with PHP is a plus.
• Strong database skills with MySQL/Postgres (or similar):
• Complex joins
• Indexing and performance tuning
• Data quality validation
• Hands-on experience with integration methods:
• REST APIs
• File-based data exchange (CSV, JSON, XML)
• SFTP and webhooks
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to work with messy production data.

Nice to Have

• Experience with integration engines such as Mirth / NextGen Connect.
• Knowledge of healthcare coding systems: ICD-10, CPT, LOINC, SNOMED.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, security best practices, and audit-ready logging.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization.
