Evaporation Technician - Grid Lab

TITLE: Technician, Evaporation – Grid Lab

DEPARTMENT: Grid Lab

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Grid Lab

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for two thin film evaporation systems (resistance) and related process. This is a batch process where semiconductor templates are coated with an ultra-thin sheet of carbon, then transfer to our class 1000 clean room for transfer to the surface of the electron microscopy grids. The grids are then inspected for quality and packaged according to standard operating procedures.

In addition to performing the tasks listed above, this operator is responsible for working directly with management to perform the training of new team members. The technician will have a deeper comprehension of departmental operations and work directly with management to maintain and improve best practices. The team member in this role acts as a SME (subject matter expert) on the production line.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Run evaporating and sputtering system according to sop’s
  • Process documentation via TEM database
  • Train new team members according to established training plan
  • Work closely with supervision to maintain process stability
  • Demonstrates ability to observe and learn complex process
  • Maintain Lab equipment as needed
  • Work well, with other lab personnel
  • Other duties, as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree or higher
  • Experience working with basic stereo microscopes
  • Knowledge of basic vacuum principles
  • Training experience
