Event Setup Lead / Driver

At Shag Carpet, no two days are the same. We're hiring an Event Setup Lead / Driver to support warehouse operations, deliver rental equipment, lead installation crews, and represent our company professionally at event sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely handle fragile, oversized, or specialty items
• Drive company delivery trucks (16’–24’) to event venues
• Ensure props and décor arrive safely and on schedule
• Serve as a professional point of contact for clients during deliveries and setups
• Lead or assist with event setup, installation, and teardown of props and décor
• Help manage and coordinate crew members during event setups
• Inspect props for damage or wear and report issues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and truck environment
• Support customer pickups and returns as needed while in the warehouse
• Follow company procedures and safety guidelines
• Undertake additional warehouse duties or other departmental projects

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Driver’s License required
• Previous warehouse, moving, or event setup experience preferred but not required
• Experience driving 16’–24’ trucks preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
• Intermediate/Advanced English communication skills (reading/writing/ speaking) required
• Strong customer service skills and professionalism with clients
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and extended hours when required
• No criminal history related to theft
• Spanish language skills are a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Warehouse setting with varying temperatures
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving heavy props
• Regular loading and unloading of trucks
• Event venue environments that may require setup outdoors or in large event spaces
• Fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines
• Position may require overtime during peak event periods
• Schedule: Varies Event Schedules; nights and weekends may be required

Reports To: Director of Operations (as well as Operations Mgr. and Assist. Ops. Mgr.)
Pay: $20 - $25 per hour, depending on experience
