Job Description

The Transport Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing patient transport operations to ensure timely, safe, and efficient movement throughout the facility. This role serves as the central communication hub between nursing units, transport staff, and other departments, prioritizing requests and optimizing workflow to support high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and dispatch patient transport requests using designated systems and communication tools
• Coordinate transport assignments to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and proper resource utilization
• Maintain continuous communication with transport staff, nursing units, and leadership regarding request status and delays
• Monitor transport turnaround times and proactively address bottlenecks or service gaps
• Ensure all transport activities comply with hospital policies, safety standards, and patient care protocols
• Track and document transport requests, completion times, and service metrics accurately
• Escalate urgent or high-priority transport needs to appropriate leadership as needed
• Assist in training new transport staff on dispatch procedures and systems
• Support departmental goals related to patient throughput, satisfaction, and operational excellence
