The Riverside County Information Technology Department is seeking an Executive Assistant I to join the Technology Services Bureau in Riverside. This position offers an excellent opportunity to support a large, fast-paced department by providing high-level administrative assistance to leadership and collaborating with a wide range of internal and external partners.
In this role, you will provide essential staff support within a complex and multifaceted agency. Responsibilities include performing a variety of administrative and analytical tasks, managing special projects, and conducting research to support and improve departmental operations. You will serve as a central coordinator and liaison among department executives, the Board of Supervisors, the Chief Executive Officer, commissions, committees, and both public and private organizations. This position may also include supervisory oversight of office support staff.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing SharePoint content and working within PeopleSoft, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Pro. A solid understanding of information processing methods and tools, as well as excellent command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and document formatting, is essential. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities are critical to success. Experience supporting high-level executives—such as CEOs, department heads, or senior leaders—by managing calendars, communications, and strategic administrative tasks is highly preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook is also required, particularly in managing complex calendars. The individual selected for this role will coordinate scheduling with internal and external stakeholders, often under tight deadlines, and ensure effective planning for VIP engagements and high-priority meetings.

The Executive Assistant I is not a natural progression underfill for the class of Executive Assistant II. Advancement to the next level is obtained by competitive selection through an open recruitment.
Education: Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test may be required.
Experience: Three years of broad and varied clerical experience. (Completion of 18 semester or 27 quarter units from an accredited college or university or 360 hours of training from an accredited occupational training program in secretarial sciences, office practices, business education, or a closely related field to the assignment may substitute for one year of nonspecialized clerical experience.)
Knowledge of: A wide variety of typing layouts and formats; Business English, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, and word usage; Indexing and filing rules and systems; the operation and uses of office equipment including personal computers, calculators and copiers; modern office and record keeping procedures and practices; basic arithmetic; County customer service objectives and strategies; telephone, office, and online etiquette; current technology and trends in the profession.
Ability to: Operate standard and modern office equipment; proofread and review work for accuracy and completeness; input and retrieve data from computerized record keeping systems; prioritize and route telephone calls and mail; monitor staff assignment deadlines; establish effective working relationships with management, employees, and employee representatives.
This position is in office with a 9/80 schedule.

Pre-Employment
