Why This Role Matters
The Executive Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a critical partner in ensuring the success of The Washington Post’s financial leadership. This role requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and strategic awareness, providing seamless administrative and operational support to the CFO while navigating a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with exceptional organizational skills, a service-minded attitude, and the ability to manage competing priorities with discretion, efficiency, and diplomacy. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the CFO’s calendar, coordinating cross-functional meetings, managing communications, and supporting the broader Finance team through administrative coordination and internal event planning. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the success of our finance function while working closely with senior leaders at The Washington Post.
You have the curiosity and capacity to quickly grasp how a team functions, including its structure, processes, and dynamics to enhance operations and collaboration within the department and across the organization.
How You’ll Support The Mission
Manage executive’s schedule by scheduling meetings, reminding about upcoming appointments or reschedules, alerting about time-sensitive emails and requests, and preparing materials for meetings and events.
Observe and monitor team dynamics, interactions, and performance. Provide accurate and timely reports to the executive, highlighting key developments, concerns, and opportunities within the team. Act as a trusted advisor to the executive, offering valuable perspectives and recommendations based on the observations and analysis.
Support executive’s decision making for specific meetings, projects, or events by understanding the roles and responsibilities of employees in different departments within the organization, building relationships with colleagues across teams, and gathering and synthesizing relevant information to ensure successful outcomes.
Attends CFO direct reports meeting, sends a summary email to the finance department, keeps track of action items for the directors, ensures weekly updates are filled out timely by the directors
Increase team productivity and operational efficiency by working closely with the CFO and directors to establish and deliver training on effective meetings, streamlined email practices, and professional electronic communications.

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.
The salary range for this position is:
$74,000 - $111,000 Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
