The University of Virginia School of Nursing seeks an exceptional Executive Assistant to the Dean to provide high-level, confidential, and varied administrative support in the Dean’s Office. Reporting directly to the Dean, this position serves as a trusted partner and primary contact, playing a critical role in the effective operation of the School’s executive leadership and the advancement of its academic, research, clinical, and strategic priorities.
The Executive Assistant must exercise outstanding judgment, discretion, and professionalism while navigating complex relationships across the University, UVA Health, external partners, alumni, and donors.
Candidates should be detail-oriented, willing to learn and work within a range of software systems and have a strong commitment to customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Strategic Support
Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Dean
Manage a highly complex calendar and scheduling
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Dean’s Office
Draft and coordinate correspondence, briefings, and presentations
Administrative support of school wide data management including faculty and staff portfolios
Operations & Coordination
Coordinate executive-level meetings, retreats, events, and visits
Prepare agendas and ensure follow-up on action items
Track priorities, deadlines, and strategic commitments, including activities related to conferences and sponsorships.
Communication & Relationship Management
Act as liaison between the Dean and internal/external stakeholders
Represent the Dean and School with professionalism
Financial, HR & Administrative Support
Process travel, reimbursements, and purchases
Support other leadership initiatives within the dean’s office
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree or combination of education and related experience in lieu of a degree required.
Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting a Dean or senior executive in an academic environment
Familiarity with UVA systems and policies
Background in health sciences or higher education
Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Salary Range: The anticipated hiring range is $70,000-$80,000, commensurate with education and experience.

Work Arrangement : This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
