Executive Board Member

Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the organization towards achieving its mission and goals. You will collaborate with fellow board members to provide strategic direction, oversee organizational performance, and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. This position requires a commitment to the organization's vision and a willingness to contribute your skills and expertise. Board Members must participate with fundraising activities, and willing to host events (at expense of org.) to support financial sustainability.

Preference will be given to candidates who don't identify with members of the current Board of Directors.

Duties

  • Attend regular board meetings and participate in discussions regarding organizational strategy, policy development, and governance. Must be willing to commit to a Tenure Agreement (Average-4 Years)
  • Must adhere to 3 basic principles when showing up to board member meetings: 1. Consistency 2. Effectiveness when Participating 3. Reliability in Participating in Organization Governance
  • Provide oversight on project coordination initiatives to ensure alignment with the organization’s goals.
  • Utilize tools such as Outlook Calendar for scheduling meetings and managing board-related activities.
  • Collaborate with team members using Google Suite for document sharing, communication, and project management.
  • Facilitate the use of DocuSign for electronic document signing processes as needed.
  • Assist in financial oversight by utilizing QuickBooks for budget tracking and financial reporting.
  • Maintain professional phone etiquette when communicating with stakeholders, partners, and community members.
  • Plan and coordinate events that promote the organization’s mission and engage the community effectively.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to stakeholders by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Organize and file important documents related to board activities, ensuring easy access for all members.
  • Support office management tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of board functions.
  • Assist in Fundraising and Organizational DevelopmentQualifications
  • Proven experience in project coordination or similar roles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital tools such as Outlook Calendar, Google Suite, DocuSign, and QuickBooks is highly desirable.
  • Strong phone etiquette skills with an emphasis on clear communication.
  • Experience in event planning or customer service will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to the mission of the organization and a passion for community engagement.
  • Previous experience serving on a board or committee is a plus but not required.
