The Yolo County Library Foundation seeks an entrepreneurial, systems-focused Executive Director to lead our next chapter. This hands-on leadership role offers direct collaboration with the board to build a lasting impact of literacy across Yolo County—perfect for an experienced professional seeking meaningful part-time engagement without full-time commitment. About Us:

The Yolo County Library Foundation has supported literacy initiatives across 8 branch libraries and remote service areas since 2016. We help fund essential programs including ESL classes, bookmobile services, early literacy programs, and summer reading initiatives, with special focus on serving underserved rural communities.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and library leadership to enhance and expand literacy access throughout Yolo County
  • Develop and lead creative fundraising strategies and efforts including grant writing and planned giving approaches and nontraditional initiatives
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, Board members, and community partners to grow donor connection, base, and continuous contributions.
  • Increase the Foundation's presence and credibility within the community so literacy advocates know, share, and contribute to our mission to fund literacy programming
  • Build organizational infrastructure including communications systems, donor management, and internal operations
  • Serve as the Foundation's primary public representative and relationship builder

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Yolo County or similar communities
  • Background in nonprofit management
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or related field or requisite expertise

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strategic and systems-focused thinking.
  • Experience with fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and annual giving initiatives.
  • Proficiency with donor management software to track relationships, segment outreach, and analyze giving patterns.
  • Experience managing organizational systems, including shared files and calendars that support continuity.
  • Ability to create visual communications and campaign materials using design software.
  • Strong writing skills for grant writing, donor updates, newsletters, sponsorship outreach, and impact storytelling.
  • Experience planning and executing fundraising events and community visibility initiatives.
  • Experience serving as organizational representative, including presenting at meetings, speaking at community events, and facilitating events.
  • Ability to maintain organizational processes that support scaling, continuity, and effective Board engagement.
  • Experience building partnerships with literacy-focused organizations, civic leaders, funders, and community stakeholders.
