Executive Function Tutor

About Executive Function Tutors

Executive Function Tutors empowers neurodivergent students in grades 4 through college to build the executive function and academic skills they need to thrive. Many of our students struggle with organization, planning, procrastination, and focus which are essential skills for long-term independence and confidence.

We provide personalized 1:1 online executive function coaching combined with academic tutoring. Our work helps students not only complete assignments but also learn how to manage their time, prioritize tasks, advocate for themselves, and develop systems that work with their brain.

Our team brings deep teaching experience and specializes in meeting students where they are through a strengths-based, compassionate, and evidence-informed approach. Beyond academics, we help students build lifelong tools that reduce stress at home, increase self-confidence, and support long-term independence.

We are a mission-driven and growing organization. As our partnerships with families and schools expand, we are building a team of EF Tutors who want to grow with us. Team members join us at an exciting time where our marketing and family success systems are gaining strong traction, allowing tutors to focus on doing what they do best: supporting students.

We believe strongly in supporting the personal and professional growth of our tutors through collaboration, shared resources, and ongoing learning.

About the role

As an Executive Function Tutor, you’ll do more than help students finish homework. You’ll coach them in building independence, confidence, and lifelong learning skills. You’ll guide students through planning, prioritizing, and managing their workload while addressing academic gaps with targeted support. When helpful, you’ll also use digital and AI tools to make learning more engaging and accessible.

Strong communication is central to this role. You’ll send thoughtful post-session notes, collaborate with parents through Family Team Meetings, and partner with schools when needed to align on goals. Our tutors are trusted partners to both students and families, creating a supportive environment where neurodivergent learners feel understood and capable.

Lastly, the work is relational and impact-driven: you’ll celebrate small wins, adapt strategies to each student’s unique strengths, and ultimately help families experience more peace at home as their child grows in resilience and independence.

Your day to day will include:

Executive Function Coaching & Student Support

  • Develop meaningful relationships with students by understanding their academic and personal interests through regular check-ins.
  • Guide students in identifying weekly priorities based on upcoming assignments, tests, and projects.
  • Collaborate with students to create realistic, actionable gameplans that break projects into smaller tasks and establish study strategies.
  • Hold students accountable for their goals, ensuring they stay on track with assignments and responsibilities.
  • Monitor and document student progress, including missing assignments, test scores, and teacher feedback.
  • Partner with teachers, therapists, and counselors as needed to align support with the student’s goals.
  • Attend IEP & 504 meetings as needed based on family subscription plans.

Academic Tutoring

  • Identify students’ content gaps in assignments and address them using inquiry-based tutoring.
  • Design mini-lessons that empower students to complete assignments independently.
  • Teach AI-driven learning tools and study techniques tailored to each student’s unique learning style.

Parent Communication & Engagement

  • Build and maintain a trusted relationship with parents/guardians.
  • Promptly share session notes via email within 24 hours of meeting with students.
  • Send weekly text summaries to parents highlighting student progress.
  • Plan and lead Family Team Meetings when families convert and on as-needed-basis to align on student goals and progress.
  • Support the transition of trial families into long-term, paying customers by providing clear insights on student progress and next steps.

  • Engage with the Family Success Manager and reply within the same business day to ensure communications are streamlined.
  • Contact trial parents via email and phone to introduce yourself and set expectations for the 60-min trial within the same business day.
  • Establish rapport with students, creating a comfortable and productive coaching environment.
  • Lead executive function coaching and tutoring sessions tailored to student needs.
  • Track student progress using internal documentation tools and provide asynchronous support (i.e., reviewing submitted work, answering questions, sending session notes).
  • Collaborate with the team to adjust coaching strategies based on student needs and family feedback.

Conversion & Retention

  • Identify and communicate student growth areas and wins to parents.
  • Address parent concerns and hesitations by offering tailored recommendations.
  • Work with the team to refine the trial experience based on conversion trends and feedback.

Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in biweekly team meetings and one-on-ones to discuss challenges and brainstorm solutions.
  • Stay informed on best practices in executive function coaching and neurodivergent student support.

We are excited about you if:

  • You are flexible to work between 3-8 PM (your timezone) on weekdays and weekends (at least 4 hours) to accommodate students’ schedules
  • You have direct experience with neurodivergent learners (i.e. ADHD, dyslexia, autism)
  • You have familiarity with IEPs/504 Plans and how to support students with accommodations is highly valued
  • You bring at least 2-5 years of teaching and/or private tutoring experience, with demonstrated proficiency in creating lesson plans, closely monitoring student progress, and continuously adjusting as need-be to student’s performance level
  • You have a track record of building meaningful relationships with students, understanding their unique academic and personal interests, and working collaboratively to achieve their goals
  • You have general subject-matter knowledge of 4th-12th grade material – our team is seeing heavy support request on Math, Science, and Humanities
  • You are comfortable working in a remote setting, including building exciting and engaging digital resources, and can effectively collaborate using tools such as Slack and Google Meet
  • You're enthusiastic about enhancing your skills in executive function coaching, tutoring, and efficient customer communication

  • You're resilient and can swiftly adapt to new situations

This role is NOT for you IF:

  • You prefer to focus only on content tutoring or only on coaching and are not comfortable doing both
  • You are uncomfortable working with students who may feel overwhelmed, disengaged, or resistant at times
  • You struggle to build rapport with students who need patience, encouragement, and flexibility
  • You are not comfortable communicating with parents about student progress and wins
  • Clear written communication (emails and session notes) is difficult for you
  • You are looking for a casual side gig rather than a role where you are invested in student growth and outcomes
  • You are not available for consistent weekly hours (approximately 15–20 hours) supporting multiple students

Our students and families depend on tutors who are reliable, thoughtful communicators, and deeply invested in their success.
