Police Athletic League of Buffalo

ABLE Summer Learning is a K-12 youth and education-focused seasonal AmeriCorps program operated by The Service Collaborative. We are currently recruiting for positions with the Police Athletic League of Buffalo.

ABLE Members will support daily K-12 youth programming, and provide academic support and tutoring in math and/or literacy weekly. Members also complete weekly intervention reporting logs throughout their service. At their host sites, members support, mentor, and lead youth in meaningful summer programming. This summer, ABLE member support is especially essential due to the varied disruptions in schooling for youth since the pandemic began. Members serve eight-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week), for a 300-hour-minimum term of service beginning in mid-late June.

Members receive the following benefits:

  • $4,800 Living allowance (bi-weekly paychecks of $1,200 before taxes)
  • AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,565.08 upon successful completion of service term
  • Meaningful experience working with K-12 students
  • Opportunity to develop leadership and team-based skills
  • Uniform items
