Job Description

Liaising with the external lawyer and assisting during trial proceedings, including preparing case files, maintaining case calendars and deadlines, and providing legal support as needed.

Maintaining and updating legal databases, including case management systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to facilitate efficient access to case-related information.

Managing case files, organizing and archiving documents, maintaining case calendars and deadlines, ensuring completeness and accuracy of records.

Coordinating documents with other departments and performing administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, and attending meetings with experts.

Updating Senior Legal Counsel on court hearing progress, providing legal assistance as needed, and possessing knowledge of court processes. Bilingual: Arabic, English. Technical English skills and strong knowledge of office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Communication skills.

Responsibilities Operational
  • Manage the Trademark / IP Section of the Legal Department of the Group.
  • Render legal advice regarding registration, opposition, protection, and defense of trademarks and IP rights of all Group Companies.
  • Raise oppositions against any infringement/unfair competition to the Group brands or application/registration deemed an imitation, oppose any objections filed to such oppositions, and attend/appear at hearing to defend and secure trademark, copyright, and IP rights pertaining to the Group.
  • Act as Secretary to the Board of Directors and to the Board Project Marketing Committee and Audit Committee of the Libyan Emirates Refining Company DMCC to accurately document minutes and history of decisions at Board and Committees and Annual Business Meetings.
  • Draft Shareholders and Board of Directors Resolutions and other legal instruments including determination of eligibility to vote, assurance of continuity of policies and practices, observation of bylaws, establishment of accountability of directors and officers, and travel to Libya to accomplish assigned duties and missions and other assignments as required, in accordance with Group Legal policy and procedures.
  • Draft legal documents such as incorporation documents, agreements and contracts, shareholders and general assembly resolutions, power of attorneys, authorizations, legal warnings, affidavits, quit claims, and other legal instruments in accordance with Group Legal policy and procedures.
  • Translation and revision of all kinds of legal documents to ensure accuracy of translation and vetting of legal documents to ascertain their legal accuracy and conformity.
Product/Process Improvement
  • Provide motions, recommendations and reports to support the Group Vice President Legal in vital strategic/business decisions.
People Management

Qualifications
  • Preferred: Knowledge of trademarks and IP rights, drafting corporate, commercial and legal documents, vetting and translation of legal documents, technical English skills.
  • Minimum: Bachelor Degree in Law or Economics or other related major and a supporting qualification in Technical English.
