Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency.
- Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary restorations, coronal polishing, and other delegated clinical tasks in accordance with state regulations and practice protocols.
- Take and develop high-quality X-ray images, including digital radiographs and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety standards are maintained.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient assessments and treatment planning.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols through aseptic technique and proper sterilization procedures to safeguard patient and staff health.
- Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and medical documentation updates for seamless clinic operations.
Requirements
- Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification or license as per state regulations.
- Proven experience in general dentistry with proficiency in chairside assisting, dental terminology, and infection control practices.
- Strong knowledge of dental procedures across specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and medical imaging techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Epic for accurate record keeping and medical coding.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and external providers.
