Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Prepare treatment areas with proper aseptic technique, ensuring all instruments and materials are sterile and ready for use.
- Take and develop high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, accurately documenting treatment notes, medical history, vital signs, and dental terminology.
- Perform chairside assisting duties such as taking vital signs, medical documentation, and assisting with medical coding when necessary.
- Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all clinical areas meet OSHA standards for safety and cleanliness.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care to promote ongoing wellness.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a general dentistry or setting is preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical records management enhances your effectiveness in this role.
- Experience performing X-ray procedures, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology.
- Background in chairside assisting with a focus on four-handed dentistry practices.
