Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, ensuring precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring all medical documentation is accurate and up-to-date in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal outcomes.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow for a seamless clinic experience.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to ensure precise communication and documentation across all clinical activities.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a dental assistant in a busy orthodontic clinic setting required.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures essential for safe practice.
- Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry procedures is a plus, along with familiarity with medical imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanning technology.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and the use of medical records for documentation purposes.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in orthodontics while maintaining high standards of patient care.
