Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental clinic. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our dental team and ensuring a positive experience for our patients. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to assist in various dental procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform expanded functions such as coronal polish, placement of temporary restorations, and other duties authorized by state regualations.
• Assist dentist & hygienists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in accordance with safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using Open Dental Software.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding treatment plans and post-operative care.
• Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure seamless patient flow within the practice, stellar customer service, and scheduling appointments.

Experience

• Previous experience as a Expanded Functions Dental Assistant t in a dental clinic setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with general dentistry practices and pediatric dentistry is an asset.
• Proficient understanding of medical documentation and record management.
• Experience with Dentrix , Open Dental or similar dental practice management software is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures to effectively assist the dental team.
• Dental Radiology Certification is required.
• Previous experience in the EFDA role along with EFDA license and MUST have experience.
