Duties

• Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and placement of sealants under the supervision of the dentist
• Assist during a wide range of dental procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
• Take and develop high-quality X-ray images while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
• Manage medical documentation, including updating electronic health records (EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), ensuring HIPAA compliance and accuracy in medical records
• Conduct vital signs assessments and medical history updates for patients, especially pediatrics, to ensure safety and proper treatment planning
• Operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners, digital X-ray machines, and other dental imaging tools with precision
• Maintain a clean, sterile environment by following infection control standards and ensuring all instruments are properly sterilized
• Support front desk duties as needed by assisting with patient check-in/out processes, scheduling appointments, and managing medical coding for billing purposes

Skills

• Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records and documentation
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
• Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry and specialties like prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and documentation
• Competence in using dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and digital radiography tools
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with dentists, patients, and team members in a fast-paced environment
