We are looking for a passionate and competent Expanded Functions Dental Assistant who will contribute to an efficient and pleasurable experience for patients and our team! We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care. Our team works really well together, has been a part of the practice for a long while, and it is really important that we find an assistant that will contribute to this great work environment. You will be our second RDA and will be able to utilize your amazing EFDA skills at our office.

Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our doctor, Merwin Scruggs. This energetic position offers the opportunity to utilize advanced assisting skills, including chairside procedures, and to contribute to a welcoming, efficient dental environment. As an EFDA, you will be empowered to perform expanded functions that enhance patient experience and streamline clinical workflows, all while maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This paid position is ideal for motivated dental professionals eager to grow their expertise in a fast-paced, supportive setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a variety of procedures, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
  • Perform chairside assisting with precision while maintaining aseptic techniques and proper infection control protocols including all legal aspects of the EFDA training including placing fillings, buildups, etc
  • Take high-quality digital X-ray images ensuring patient comfort and safety
  • Manage patient vital signs and medical documentation accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR) system, Denticon
  • Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to strict infection control standards
  • Support front desk staff by managing patient check-in/check-out processes and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to ensure accurate documentation and billing

Skills

  • Extensive experience with EMR systems like Denticon, Dentrix, or Epic for efficient record keeping and medical documentation
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times
  • Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize clinical efficiency and patient comfort
  • Proficient in taking X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology for comprehensive diagnostics
  • Familiarity with dental assisting procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry specialties
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with dental team members and support staff such as dental receptionists
  • Committed to maintaining aseptic techniques, infection control standards, and adhering to OSHA guidelines

Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
