Desert Tails Pet Services LLC is a professional, well-established pet sitting business specializing in cat sitting and dog walking. We are currently seeking an experienced part-time Cat Sitter / Dog Walker to service Cave Creek and Carefree.

We are a diverse team of pet lovers, including retirees, semi-retired, educators, and vet techs who share a passion for animals and are seeking part-time or supplemental income.

By providing dependable, compassionate care to pets, sitters can earn $500–$1,000+ per month depending on availability and number of visits completed.

The Role

We are primarily a cat-focused company (approximately 80% cats / 20% dogs). Most assignments range from 2–7 days per client.

This role includes one consistent weekly dog walking client plus regular cat sitting assignments and occasional vacation visits.

Core Weekly Schedule

Dog Walking Client

Monday – Thursday
One visit per day between 9:45 AM – 11:00 AM

This visit is for two dogs and may include a safe walk around the block or backyard potty break depending on their needs/time of year. This schedule is consistent.

Regular Cat Sitting Client

We have a busy repeat cat sitting client who travels frequently.

They typically book 1 morning visit per day.

Example bookings may look like:

• Saturday – Tuesday
• Monday – Friday
• Sunday – Thursday

Visits take place once per day in the morning between 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

These bookings occur multiple times per month but vary in dates.

Additional Vacation Clients

Sitters may also be assigned additional pet sitting visits for other clients as available. These visits may include both cats and dogs.

Typical vacation visit schedules include:

Morning visit: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Evening visit: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Ideal Availability

Morning availability between 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Afternoon availability between 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Monday–Thursday morning availability required
Rotating Saturday & Sunday availability required

This role is best suited for someone seeking consistent part time supplemental income rather than full time hours.

Candidate Requirements (Very Important)

• It is REQUIRED that you live in or within a FEW MILES of the service area. If you do not, you will not be considered. If you live in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Phoenix (excluding Desert Hills) Anthem, Glendale, Peoria, Tempe, Scottsdale or Phoenix south of dynamite, etc....this is not the job for you. MUST Live in Cave Creek, Carefree or Desert Hills (North of Dynamite)
Own a reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license
21 years or older
Have prior pet care care experience in owners homes (beyond personal pets) - REQUIRED
Be comfortable working independently with strong time management skills
Be reliable, communicative, organized, and detail-oriented
Be physically able to walk, bend, lift, and manage pets
Own a smartphone with unlimited data
Be willing to obtain and maintain pet sitting insurance - REQUIRED
Be comfortable working as a 1099 independent contractor
Be able to receive Zelle payments
Pass a criminal background check

Job Responsibilities:

• Safely walk dogs of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring they receive proper exercise and mental stimulation
• Provide exercise, enrichment, and individual attention to pets
• Follow client care instructions exactly
• Refresh food and water
• Clean litter boxes and tidy pet areas
• Clean up after dogs & cats
• Communicate updates to pet parents after visits
• Monitor pets for health or behavior concerns
• Use sound judgment and professionalism during visits

Compensation

• Visits start at $20 per 30-minute visit. Longer visits (45–60 minutes) paid at higher rates
• 100% of tips
• Holiday pay for all major holidays

Legal / Contractor Information

This position is part-time supplemental income and not an employee role. Income is not guaranteed and should not be considered a primary income source.

Position details:

• 1099 Independent Contractor
• No employee benefits provided. You will receive 1099NEC at the end of the year

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
