Experienced dog walker and pet sitter

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Dog Walker and Pet Sitter to provide exceptional care for pets in our community. This role involves walking, feeding, and supervising animals to ensure their safety, happiness, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, strong animal handling skills, and the ability to manage multiple pets in various settings. This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of animals and contribute positively to pet owners’ peace of mind.

Duties

• Walk dogs of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring safe and enjoyable outings
• Provide pet sitting services either in your home or in the client's home overnight, including feeding, administering medication, and companionship (overnight availability is required)
• Monitor animals during walks or visits to ensure safety and well-being
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs and behavior
• Handle animals with patience and care, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques
• Candidates must be located in Charleston or the surrounding areas
• Candidate must have flexible daytime availability
• Bonus if candidates are able to complete dog walks in Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, and/or North Charleston

Experience

• Prior experience in vet clinics, pet sitting, dog walking, or animal care is required
• Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with pet owners
• Skills in handling multiple animals simultaneously are desirable
• Must be extremely responsive via text (respond within 30 minutes), and also have a reliable form of transportation
• A college degree is preferred but not required

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour

• How many years of professional pet sitting or dog walking do you have? (e.g., Rover, Wag, independent sitting for multiple clients, etc.)
• How many years of pet services experience do you have? (e.g., working at a vet clinic, groomers, zoo, board-and-train facility, etc.)
• Our clients need quick responses. Can you commit to replying to text messages within 30 minutes?
• Because of the time and resources required to onboard new team members, we ask for at least an eight-month commitment to Mind Your Pees and Poos. Can you agree to that?
• Describe your availability. If you are currently employed, do you have flexibility during the day/evening? Do you have any other commitments during the day?
• We are looking for team members willing to travel all over the greater Charleston area (downtown, West Ashley, John's Island, James Island, etc.) and especially Mount Pleasant. What areas are you willing to serve?
• Are you at least 21 years old?
• Are you willing to stay overnight in the client's home and/or host client pets in your home? (One or the other is required.)
