Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Experienced Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance, perform expanded functions, and support the delivery of comprehensive dental care. Duties
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, prosthodontics, and endodontic dentistry treatments.
- Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, sealant application, and temporary restorations in accordance with state regulations.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort.
- Manage patient records by updating medical histories, documenting procedures in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Measure vital signs and assess patient comfort levels prior to procedures to support overall health monitoring.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist with medical documentation and records management.
Skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and the unique needs of pediatric patients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental care and understanding of medical coding for billing purposes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
