Experienced Loading Shovel Driver / HGV Driver

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Loading Shovel Driver who is able to drive HGV to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating loading shovel and HGV driver, associated machinery to support loading sand and gravel materials in a busy yard. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to handle specialised equipment safely and efficiently. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in commercial driving and machinery operation to contribute to ongoing projects while developing their skills further. A vehicle will be supplied with this position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate shovels and related machinery such as 360 excavators to perform tasks including loading sand and gravel.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure optimal functioning and safety standards are maintained.
  • Follow safety protocols diligently during operation, ensuring the safety of oneself and colleagues on-site.
  • Load and unload materials using excavators or other attachments as required for various projects.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan daily tasks and optimise workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure timely and safe delivery of products to designated locations.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage and fuel usage.

Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly operating loading shovels in a professional setting.
  • Experience in driving HGV
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain detailed records.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly personality.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to operate machinery for extended periods under varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a volumetric driver & tipper or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • You must be able to drive an automatic and manual.
  • Valid commercial driving licence is essential for operating heavy machinery.
  • Class 2: 2 years (required)
  • CPC (required)
