What is a Merger and Acquisition Analyst?

The role reports directly to the Director Mergers and Acquisition at VEON HQ.

What does a Merger and Acquisition Analyst do?

  • Support development and maintenance of an M&A pipeline across VEON markets
  • Perform financial analysis and valuation to support investment cases and decision-making
  • Prepare executive-level materials and presentations for internal stakeholders
  • Build and maintain a knowledge bank of TMT, fintech, and digital comparable transactions and peer benchmarks
  • Coordinate and support cross-functional due diligence workstreams and external advisors
  • Assist in transaction execution, including preparation and review of key deal documentation
  • Support post-transaction tracking of key KPIs and performance versus deal rationale

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be a Merger and Acquisition Analyst?

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA and/or CFA would be a strong plus
  • 5-8 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development/M&A, private equity, venture capital, or related fields.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions).
  • Solid understanding of TMT, fintech, and digital business models
  • Understanding of the end-to-end M&A process, including due diligence and transaction execution
  • Strong analytical, structuring, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and geographies with a high ownership mindset
  • Proven experience supporting transactions, including screening, financial modelling, and due diligence coordination
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with financial data and market intelligence platforms (Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Refinitiv, Factiva)
  • Understanding of legal documentation and key commercial terms
