Operational Logistics & Shipment Management
- Freight Negotiation & Booking: Liaising with shipping lines and freight forwarders to secure competitive ocean freight rates.
- Optimizing container space (CBM) specifically for compressed towel bales vs. carton packing to maximize value per shipment.
- Documentation Management: Preparing and verifying critical export documents: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading (B/L), and Certificate of Origin.
- Ensuring compliance with textile-specific requirements like the GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) or FTA (Free Trade Agreement) forms to provide duty benefits to the buyer.
- Incoterms Mastery: Deciding and managing risks based on agreed terms, whether it’s FOB (Free on Board), CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight), or DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) for high-end boutique clients.
- LC (Letter of Credit) Coordination: Working closely with the finance/banking department to ensure all shipping documents strictly match the LC terms to avoid "discrepancies" that delay payment.
- The Shipment Workflow
- Booking containers (20ft/40ft HC) based on production completion dates; arranging for pre-shipment inspections (e.g., SGS or Intertek).
- Transit - Tracking the vessel movement and providing Daily Status Reports (DSR) to the international buyer.
- Post-Shipment - Sending the "Advice of Shipment" and ensuring the original documents are couriered or electronically released (Telex Release).
