Extrusion Operations Supervisor (5” & 7” Press)

Job Summary

The Extrusion Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the aluminium extrusion process, including 5-inch and 7-inch extrusion presses. The role ensures production targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards, safety compliance, and optimal machine performance.

Key Responsibilities1. Production Management

• Supervise and coordinate operations of 5” and 7” extrusion press machines.
• Plan and execute daily production schedules as per production plan.
• Ensure maximum machine utilization and minimize downtime.
• Monitor billet heating, extrusion parameters, and press performance.
• Ensure proper die changes and die management.

2. Quality Control

• Ensure extrusion profiles meet dimensional and surface quality standards.
• Monitor process parameters (temperature, pressure, speed).
• Coordinate with Quality Control department for inspections.
• Reduce scrap rate and manage rework effectively.

3. Machine & Equipment Supervision

• Ensure proper operation of extrusion press, puller, stretcher, saw, cooling system, and handling equipment.
• Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with Maintenance team.
• Report technical issues promptly.

4. Workforce Supervision

• Supervise operators, helpers, and shift workers.
• Assign duties and monitor performance.
• Train new operators on safety and process control.
• Maintain discipline and ensure team coordination.

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with plant safety policies and PPE usage.
• Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks.
• Maintain safe working conditions around press machines and hot metal handling.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily production reports.
• Record press performance, downtime, and rejection data.
• Monitor billet consumption and yield percentage.
• Report daily production status to Production Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in aluminium extrusion industry.
• Experience handling 5” and 7” extrusion presses preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of aluminium extrusion process.
• Understanding of dies, billet temperature control, and profile tolerances.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, reporting).
