Eye Care Counsellor

Job Summary:

The Counsellor will be responsible for guiding patients through their eye care journey — from diagnosis to treatment. The role involves explaining medical procedures, clarifying treatment options and costs, and ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Counsel patients regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and surgical options as advised by the doctor.
• Clearly explain the benefits, risks, and costs of different procedures (e.g., cataract surgery, LASIK, retina treatments, etc.).
• Address patient queries and concerns with empathy and accuracy.
• Assist patients in booking appointments and scheduling surgeries.
• Coordinate with doctors, optometrists, and billing departments for smooth patient flow.
• Maintain patient records and track follow-ups for pre- and post-operative care.
• Support patients in making informed decisions regarding their eye treatment.
• Ensure a positive patient experience and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in patient education programs and outreach camps when required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Graduate in any discipline
• 1–5 years of experience as a Counsellor in an Eye Hospital / Healthcare setup.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathetic, patient-oriented, and well-organized.
• Basic knowledge of ophthalmic procedures (training can be provided).
• Computer literacy and familiarity with hospital management software.

Work Environment:

• Eye Hospital / Eye Care Centre.
• Direct interaction with patients, doctors, and support staff.
• May involve weekend or rotational duties as per hospital requirements.
